The Dusty Knuckle was born in an empty shipping container in Hackney before settling in its current location (opposite the original shipping container!) which features a bare brick entrance and simple interior with an industrial feel. The Dusty Knuckle has opted for freshy baked goods to enrich the room, and an entire length of a wall hosts shelves with fresh bread loaves, while the counter is adorned with irresistible pastries. The Dusty Knuckle’s sourdough is seen by many as the best in London.
In addition to the baked goods, there is also a seasonally changing breakfast menu on offer, which is scribbled on a black board hung behind the bar. The freshest flavours are used to create dishes such as homemade granola with yoghurt and poached pears and rosehip, and everything possible is made in-house with locally sourced ingredients. A customer favourite available all week is the bacon/sausage and potato bread sandwich, while weekends brunches see more variety.
The Dusty Knuckle’s mission is to not only make incredible bread, but to provide training and employment to young people facing financial difficulties. They also offer work experience and baking classes in schools and youth clubs. Baking classes are also available to purchase, so you can learn to make their irreplaceable sourdough at home.
