Senzala Creperie offers a range of sweet and savoury crepes, as well as buckwheat galettes with Brazilian flair. The South American heritage of the owners is noticeable in dishes such as the El Egg Ranchero (with chorizo, egg, white onions, tomato chutney, beans, jalapenos, guacamole and parsley), thought the menu does offer local twists like Senzala’s take on a full English – the Full Morning Glory (with cheese, mushrooms, tomatoes, bacon and fried egg). For a sweeter alternative, try Sweet Sin (grilled banana, Belgian chocolate, a splash of rum and ice cream).
Menu items are easily customisable with sweet or savoury extras. The galettes are not only gluten free but also egg and dairy free, offering several options for vegans. Senzala even offers organic and vegan wines and beers, so that your whole party can enjoy a boozy brunch.
The eatery’s Brazilian roots are also evident in the decor and music. The colourful shopfront and interior boast bright shades of red, blue and yellow, and the room is filled with mismatched furniture and vintage posters. Guests can either watch the people in Brixton Village Market through the large windows, or enjoy watching the crepieres at work in the open kitchen.
