Café Fleur still has the name of the greasy spoon it once was, but its owner, Lucy, has now turned it into a warm neighbourhood cafe. The place has a homely vibe and is filled with varied furniture from Lucy’s childhood home, second-hand shops and local carpenters. The decor mainly consists of greenery and personal touches like books and blackboards with whimsical writing.
The regularly changing menu caters to all, from meat-lovers to vegans. You can either go healthy with the chilli avo (homemade organic sourdough, crushed avocado, feta, homemade chili sauce and 2 poached eggs) or go hearty with huevos rancheros toast (sourdough toast, homemade beans, fried eggs, cheddar, sour cream & chilli sauce). In addition, the team make their own sourdough bread, cakes, vegan muffins, cookies and brioche tarts in-house, amongst other tasty treats.
Drink choices are just as comprehensive, ranging from coffee from Volcano Coffee Works in Brixton to super lattes, made with either beetroot, matcha or turmeric and almond or oat milk. They even offer cocktails for boozy brunch lovers, such as classic Bellinis and Elderflower Fizz (prosecco, gin and elderflower).
