Brunswick East is an Antipodean cafe run by Natasha and Shaunae, two sisters from Australia. In true Australian fashion, they specialise in coffee and brunch that rival those in Australia themselves. The menu puts an innovative spin on brunch dishes, with exciting elements and mouth-watering combinations. A must-order is the chilli poached eggs with potato sourdough, wilted spinach, whipped garlic yoghurt and chilli and dill butter.

Quality at Brunswick East is key. The team have a strict ‘No Shit Egg’ rule, and make everything in-house and at their bakery nearby. It’s difficult to leave the space without taking away something from the wide selection of baked goods on offer at the coffee counter.

Brunswick East can be somewhat tricky to find, tucked away on Gillett Street, but worth the search. Their large courtyard is filled with brunch-goers on sunny days, and if you don’t arrive early, you can expect a queue to get a table on weekends.
