Originally born as a porridge shop inspired by those in Copenhagen, 26 Grains has become a cosy cafe filled with regulars and tourists alike. Located in Neal’s Yard, it offers a small escape from the bustling Soho surroundings.
The seasonally revolving menu is based around seasonal fruits, and although the porridge focus remains, it has expanded to include other dishes such as bircher muesli and avocado on sourdough rye toast. A customer favourite (as well as the preference of the owner, Alex) is the hazelnut butter porridge. Another must-try dish is the Nordic pear porridge, inspired by Alex’s time living in Copenhagen. 26 Grains use organic whole oat groats to make their creamy porridge, which they split and soak themselves before cooking.
