Esters is a brunch spot tucked away on a cosy back street in Stoke Newington. The menu changes seasonally, but constantly showcases regular, creative choices – including Bircher muesli with a seasonal compote, and always delicious version of French toast, and a fried or poached eggs dish with varying accompaniments.
Owners Nia and Jack like to experiment and make as much as they can in-house, such as jams, yoghurts, pickles and cakes (Esters cookies are said to be one of the best in London). Their high standard for quality extends to the ingredients they use, all of which are sourced from local producers: Has Bean Coffee, Postcard Teas, Northiam Dairy, Little Bread Pedlar and Rookery Organic Eggs to name a few.
The indoor space is cosy, filled with bold colours and a light and airy feel. Sun-seekers can enjoy their breakfast in the courtyard, next to an herb garden and Esters’ fig tree. This is a great location to work, but only during weekdays, as laptops are not allowed on weekends.
