MAMIE’S is a true Breton crêperie which aims to bring together French and British cuisine. They offer both sweet crepes and galettes with a range of flavours and fillings. Breakfast favourites include the classic compléte galette (egg, ham and emmental cheese) and the banana and Nutella crêpe. The ingredients are of high quality; the buckwheat flour for the galettes is imported from the Moulin de Charbonniére in Brittany, a mill that has specialised in this since 1923.
Customers can also enjoy drinks alongside their crêpes, such as hot caramel (prepared with milk and homemade salted caramel) or, more in keeping with Breton tradition, French cider.
Those who choose to stay in can enjoy the homey feel of the ground floor and watch the crêpieres at work in the open kitchen, or head upstairs to the traditional ‘Salon Breton’ with textured, pastel-coloured walls and stained mirrors. The secret basement is their cidrothéque (meaning ‘cider cellar’), and boasts a painted glass ceiling of a magnificent 1960s map of Brittany.
