It’s time to reclaim the weekend, don’t you think? I miss my friends, exploring new areas of the city and going out out (for breakfast). After a long hard week of remote working I want something to look forward and this past weekend I’ve had exactly that.
One of my all time breakfasts has to be Dishoom’s legendary ‘Bacon Naan Roll’. Over the last few weeks their incredible teams have started to deliver a taste of Bombay to your homes, all across London- and Nationwide. Fresh ingredients shopped, measurements made and cooking instructions included (written out or as a video), it’s an absolute dream come true. For £16, this kit makes breakfast for two- with a bacon naan and a chai tea for both of you.
Whether you’re a ‘recipe box’ pro or a newbie like me, I’d highly recommend and am already planning my next breakfast kit. Most have to be ordered in advance and are being delivered on a Friday to hit your fridges and be there ready and waiting on Saturday morning. Here’s a list of the top picks I’ve come across- although I’m hoping to be out and about well before I get through all of these. If you try one, tag us in your pictures on Instagram- we’d love to see your creations!
Dirty Brunch Burger
Mac & Wild
Roll up your sleeves and dive straight into brioche burgers topped to perfection with bacon, cheese and black pudding. They’re also including mini bonnie spritz cocktails getting the weekend started in style, all for £29.
Pancakes
Where The Pancakes Are
Want to know where? They’re currently being boxed up in Borough. A ‘feast box’ makes 20-25 pancakes meaning it’s time to get your breakfast club back together again! For £35 you’ll get the pancake flour mix, buttermilk, eggs, butter, bacon, maple syrup alongside bananas and berries to make the whole thing healthy, right?
Chocolate Babka
The Good Egg
Looking to fill your home with the delicious, mouth watering scent of homemade chocolate babka, this is my current front runner for next weekend. For £24 you’ll receive flour, sugar, yeast, butter, egg, tahini and chocolate chips alongside instructions on how to recreate their outrageously tasty recipe.
Shakshuka
Bubala
Being the only restaurant on this list I haven’t physically been to, I’ve now done extensive research and these home DIY shakshuka kits have been very highly rated. Often a dish which feels like a lot of effort, the hardest part (the sauce) has been perfected ahead of time for you. Which means all you’ll need to do is crack a handful of eggs, grill the laffa bread and find a cute bowl for your hummus to give that full Middle Eastern experience. Kit for two people at £20.
Whilst these boxes are hitting the spot for now, I still can’t wait for the real deal. In the meantime, whether you want to invite a friend over for a weekend activity, are looking for an experiential birthday present at home or you simply deserve it yourself, cheers to the weekend!
